Living up to its catchphrase of “land of extremes” for being the “hottest, driest, and lowest national park,” daytime in Death Valley National Park even during winter months is a blanket of almost tangible white-yellow sunshine that makes the park seem wide awake without a single blink. These two nights in December, it continued to stay awake in a moonlight vigil, light but dark, sharp but soft, wild but tamed, creating harmony between extremes.
